Hingman Leung is an up and coming independent filmmaker based in Ottawa, Ontario, who uses visual storytelling to bridge different ways of seeing the world. Her commitment to community building has led her to develop the digital storytelling component of a local arts and culture blog, Apartment 613. She is the founding creative director of 613TV, which focuses on uncovering a side of Ottawa that you would likely never see on mainstream media.
As a freelance producer and videographer, Hingman has produced video and social media content for a variety of Ottawa not-for-profits, including Business Improvement Associations, Hidden Harvest Ottawa, the University of Ottawa Sustainability Office, Lisgar Collegiate Institute, and a number of small independently-owned local businesses. Her freelance work aims to support community growth through celebrating diversity and inclusion.
As an independent filmmaker, Hingman is driven by culturally significant and personally meaningful stories. Her first documentary film exploring attitudes about food waste in China, No Doggy Bag Please (2015), received the Public Ethnography Award from Royal Roads University and has screened at film festivals in Canada and abroad. Her most recent film, Curbside Pickup (2020) about dating during COVID (and other things), received the Best Director and Best Film awards at the Ottawa Digi60 Film Festival and was received the Emerging Experimental Filmmaker Award from the Digital Arts Resource Centre.

I have worked with Edwards Creative Law for well over 15 years on numerous projects with both Mark and Byron. The advice and the guidance provided have saved my bacon more times than I can count. The entertainment business is tricky and there are no better people to help you navigate it.

Highly recommend Edwards Creative Law. Mark, Byron, Ian, Gina, Erin and their wider team are thoughtful, knowledgeable entertainment partners who assist us in navigating the legal complexities of film and television production. They also allow for the process to be enjoyable and collaborative in nature. Five stars.

Edwards Creative Law has been a fierce defender of my project’s rights and interests, and all while working within my needs and comfort. Engaging Byron as my entertainment lawyer has been one of the best decisions I made for my company. Highly recommend.
