ABCs of Tax + Finance – IMB #41 –
Join us on Thursday May 6th at 7PM for an IMB (Independent Music Business) event dedicated to demystifying finances as a musician. From conversations on cash flow to credit to income tax, our panel made up of Ingrid Denda, Randy Greenstone, Bonnie Cohen and Tara Shannon will do their best to answer any and all questions you may have! This event is hosted by Edwards Creative Law, Ottawa Music Industry Coalition, Ontario Creates, and City of Ottawa.
Bios of Presenters
Ingrid Denda: Ingrid Denda is a music lover, avid concert goer and music seminar groupie. And, as her day gig, she is an experienced Financial Advisor and a Certified Financial Planner professional with Assante Capital Management Ltd. In 2016, she decided to combine her passion for music and her passion for providing financial advice and founded thewealthymusician.ca, to help promote a better understanding of the basics of personal finance in the music industry.
Tara Shannon: As a celebrated entrepreneur and co-founder of the TIF Group of Companies, Canadian award winning artist and songwriter Tara Shannon has been a guest speaker at notable events such as the G20 Summit and won awards such as the BMO for Woman Community and Charitable Giving. Shannon seeks to encourage and empower the artists on the label she founded, Willow Sound Records, and the writers at the publishing company she co-founded with Nashville’s Debbie Zavitson, Syndicut Music Publishing, with the same entrepreneurial mindset.
Randy Greenstone: Randy Greenstone has an expansive range of capabilities in accounting, tax, audit, business advisory, internal audit, risk assessments, fraud and litigation support. Certified in financial forensics, Randy’s comprehensive practice allows her to tailor her services to the specified needs and goals of each client. Her diverse expertise makes her a trusted advisor and a great teammate for partners and firm members alike. Moving past her professional achievements, Randy has used her skills to benefit her community. Currently, she is vice president and treasurer of the Early Beginnings Multicultural Daycare Board of Directors as well as a member of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa Audit and Finance Committee.
Bonnie Cohen: Bonnie Cohen joined Crowe BGK as a Tax Manager in 2018 with more than 25 years of experience in assurance, accounting and consulting, as well as a concentrated background in tax. Bonnie focuses on tax compliance although she prides herself on being a full-service professional. She advises and assists high net-worth individuals and non-resident entities, predominantly in the entertainment industry, with their compliance needs. She has expertise in global mobility, streamlining inbound/expatriate workforces for international companies. Bonnie is known for her excellent client service and her ability to develop lasting client relationships.
