Edwards Creative Law is pleased to take part in the bilingual event “SOUND AND RIGHTS: Fundamentals of Copyright in the Music Industry”, hosted by Association du droit du sport et du divertissement de l’Université d’Ottawa in collaboration with Intellectual Property Law Association of the University of Ottawa, Association des Étudiants Noirs en Droit de UOttawa – Section droit civil, and with the support of Ottawa Music Industry Coalition. We appreciate the invitation and are glad to contribute to a conversation that helps creators better understand how their work is protected.
Our firm’s partner and entertainment lawyer Byron Pascoe will speak about the foundations of music copyright, and the practical steps artists, producers, and industry professionals can take to safeguard their creative output. Byron specializes in music law, advising musicians and creatives on protecting their rights and navigating the business side of the music industry.
Byron is also delighted to share the stage with Professor Mistrale Goudreau, a leading scholar in intellectual property, the interpretation of laws, and law and technology in the Civil Law Section at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. Her academic insight will add important depth to the discussion.
